孟耿如近期到小琉球拍攝由科技部監製的新戲《塑膠袋子》，日前劇組進行開工拜拜，當天演員們也合力淨灘，身體力行保護海洋環境生態。孟耿如第一次來到小琉球，覺得這裡漂亮的海岸和熱情的民情都非常迷人，但被海浪打上岸的許多垃圾，讓碧海藍天蒙上遺憾。
在劇中飾演海洋大學研究人員的孟耿如說：「參與淨灘才發現垃圾真的撿不完，撿到拖鞋、地墊、各式生活用品，最多的還是塑膠袋子和寶特瓶。」他表示，這些在我們日常中天天使用、用完就丟、沒有感覺，但實際蹲在地上辛苦淨灘才得到震撼教育，並呼籲大家「每製造一個垃圾之前都要多想一下。」

該劇男主角路斯明在劇中飾演研究海龜的博士，開拍前曾到海洋大學上課、學習海龜知識，他說：「海洋是海龜和所有海洋生物的家鄉，將心比心，如果你家都堆滿垃圾、沒事就被吸管戳到、或不小心吃到塑膠袋，你受得了嗎？」他表示，很喜歡淨灘這個活動，如果沒有親身下來撿垃圾，不會看到海洋不美麗的另一面貌，更不會檢討自己平常製造的垃圾有多少。
小琉球海岸線是海龜棲息覓食處，因此演員們最期待親眼一睹海龜本尊，由於海龜每40分鐘就會浮上水面換氣呼吸，大夥等戲時常常死盯著海面，比賽誰先看到海龜。目前，孟耿如還未能見到海龜真面目，她說接下來拍潛水戲時有機會與海龜一起在海中游泳，是她最期待的事。
